"Always Sunny in Philadelpia" Star -- Stalker Emailed Me Bloody Finger Pics

Filed under: Thesy Surface, Celebrity Justice

0826_mcpoyle_EXThesy Surface -- the actress who plays the creepy Margaret McPoyle on "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" -- has turned to police for help, claiming a stalker's been harassing her online ... even emailing her pics of an animated finger spelling the c-word in blood.

Police obtained a search warrant to investigate the anonymous sender -- and have traced the messages back to a Tumblr account by the name of "dirtythesy."

According to the docs, police successfully retrieved the user's email address and IP address late last month -- and plan to pursue a criminal investigation.

Police believe the mystery person first made contact with Thesy via Twitter -- posting a long comment on one of her videos, calling her "ugly and untalented."

But that was just the beginning -- on July 10th, the alleged stalker contacted her again with a Tumblr account that contained several more degrading messages ... and a picture with a "vulgar image" superimposed.

0826_thesy_surface_subThesy received two identical emails days later with the message "Bloody Finger Mail" -- containing a moving image of a finger ... inscribing the word "c**t" in blood.

According to the docs, Thesy's spooked because she thinks the person knows all her personal information -- and she has no idea who's behind the attacks.

Sources close to Thesy tell us, she's fully cooperating with the LAPD -- and hopes they find the person responsible for the messages. Her rep had no official comment.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie Forgo Fascinators While Bride Petra Ecclestone Walks Down the Aisle in Vera Wang!

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie stepped out of Rome's Hassler Hotel earlier today accompanied by their mother, Fergie, en route to Petra Ecclestone's sunset wedding ceremony. The wedding festivities kicked off last night with an elaborate rehearsal dinner celebrating the couple. The heiress and her fiancé, James Stunt, reportedly invited 250 guests to the lavish event, including Paris, Nicky, Kathy, and Rick Hilton. Friends and family were shuttled to Odescalchi Castle prior to the wedding while the bride-to-be and her billionaire father, Bernie, were chauffeured in a Rolls-Royce. Petra walked down the aisle wearing a custom-designed Vera Wang gown, and shortly after the one-hour ceremony guests were serenaded by Andrea Bocelli. The music continued throughout the night with performances from The Black Eyed Peas, Eric Clapton, and David Guetta.

'Jersey Shore' Stars Escape 'No Joke' Hurricane Irene For VMAs

'I was not missing the VMAs for nothing,' Pauly D tells MTV News.
By Eric Ditzian

As Hurricane Irene bore down on the East Coast and the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards heated up on the West, "Jersey Shore" stars Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi hopped a last-minute private jet from New Jersey to Los Angeles. Nothing was going to stop them from missing the VMAs.

"We had to get out here for the VMAs," Vinny told MTV News hours after touching down in Los Angeles. "MTV did whatever they could to get us out here. We wouldn't miss it for the world."

His pal Pauly D, meanwhile, had been safely kicking back in Oklahoma City after an earlier brush with the hurricane in North Carolina while touring with Britney Spears. "Irene got nothing on my blowout," he declared, while acknowledging the storm poses a serious risk to the public.

"I was nervous. This storm's no joke," he said. "Immediately I texted Vinny, because I didn't think we were going to make it. ... I thought I was going to have to fill in for everybody. I can't talk for everybody. I talk a lot. But it was no joke, and I was not missing the VMAs for nothing. Seriously, I was coming here. I didn't care how I was coming here, but I was going to make it."

It's no doubt going to be a big night for the "Shore" kids. The highly anticipated episode showcasing the resolution of Ronnie's dustup with the Situation is set to air at 7 p.m. ET immediately before the VMA Pre-Show. And as soon as "Jersey Shore" ends, the cast will be making their way down the VMA Pre-Show black carpet and settling into prime seats for the main event. But while they kick back and enjoy all the VMA craziness, they'll be thinking of their friends and family back home.

"Our prayers go out for everyone on the East Coast," Vinny said. "We're looking out for them, but I think they're going to be all right."

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for Best New Artist by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

'Our Idiot Brother,' 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark,' 'Colombiana' Reviews

'Our Idiot Brother,' 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark,' 'Colombiana' Reviews

Which movies are fun for the whole family and which ones are treats just for you? Find out!

In theaters now:

Our Idiot Brother
Short Story:
After being dumped by his girlfriend, idealistic hippie Ned (Paul Rudd) crashes with -- and hilariously disrupts the lives of -- each of his three sisters: Miranda (Elizabeth Banks), a career-driven journalist on the verge of her big break; Liz (Emily Mortimer), a devoted family woman so caught up in being the perfect mom that she doesn't notice that her marraige is falling apart; and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), a bisexual hipster whose cheating ways are threatening to ruin her relationship with her girlfriend Cindy (Rashida Jones).

What They're Saying:
"While too overtly modest to be a comedy game-changer, it is almost sufficiently feisty and entertaining to render the term 'a Sundance movie' something less than dread-inspiring." -- MSN Movies

"It's refreshing, this late in the summer, to find a hot weather comedy that doesn't hate its characters and embed them in scatology and sexual impossibilities." -- Chicago Sun-Times

Good for Kids?
This comedy is rated R for sexual content and language, but adults should take time to enjoy one last laugh before the back-to-school mayhem begins.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
Short Story:
Co-written by horror maestro Guillermo del Toro and based on the 1973 TV movie of the same name, the film follows architect Alex Hurst (Guy Pearce) his new girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes) and Alex's daughter Sally (Bailee Madison), who set out to restore a Gothic mansion in the hopes of selling it. But when Sally gives in to voices asking her to free them from the sealed fireplace in the basement, she unleashes a herd of goblin-like monsters intent on destroying her family.

What They're Saying:
"If the grand finale isn't as resonantly scary as the original's, maybe that's just because, try though we might, we're no longer impressionable kids." -- Village Voice

"It's a plodding, derivative gothic potboiler: The Shining meets Coraline, with a touch of Gremlins played (boringly) straight." -- Entertainment Weekly

Good for Kids?
With an R rating, Common Sense Media recommends this horror film for teens ages 16 and above. Although there is far more suspense than actual gore, there are a few sequences of intense violence and death. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Colombiana
Short Story:
After witnessing the murder of her parents, Catelya (Zoe Saldana) grows up to be an assasin. Working for her uncle as a trained professional killer, she spends her free time on a mission to find -- and kill -- those responsible for her parent's death.

What They're Saying:
"For the most part, it's all big and silly, but at least it's enjoyably staged and crafted." -- Associated Press

"Colombiana may not be the brainiest of actioners, but one of the merits of producer Luc Besson's latest brainchild is that fanboys worldwide will come away with a scrap of horticultural knowledge as well as a pretty good time." -- Variety

Good for Kids?
This revenge-driven action thriller promises to be a bit too violent for little ones. Rated PG-13, Common Sense Media tells parents to expect "plenty of edgy violence, with heavy gun use, physical fighting, and death." Click to read the full Common Sense review!

In case you missed:

One Day
Short Story:
On July 15, 1988, polar opposites Dexter Mayhew (Jim Sturgess) and Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway) meet and begin a friendship that lasts a lifetime. Em is a working-class girl looking to improve the world and Dex is a wealthy charmer living the bachelor lifestyle. The film checks in with the pair every July 15 for 20 years, showing how their friendship grows and evolves into the love of a lifetime.

What They're Saying:
"It's a frustrating film, never light enough on its feet to be cute, never heartfelt enough to achieve 'You had me at Hello.'" -- Orlando Sentinel

"In a season of movies dumb and dumber, One Day has style, freshness and witty bantering dialogue." -- Chicago Sun-Times

Good For Kids?
Rated PG-13 for sexual content and partial nudity, this is a flick for mature teenagers and adults. Hire a babysitter if you are in the mood for a romantic drama featuring two hot young actors.

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World
Short Story:
Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) seems to have the perfect life: a new baby, two step kids (Rowan Chanchard and Mason Cook) and a famous TV reporter husband (Joel McHale). But Marissa is a retired secret agent -- and, when the evil TimeKeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the world, she has to leap back into action. With a new Spy Kid division open, Marissa's stepchildren Rebecca and Cecil get help from some familar spies Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara) as they try to save the planet. As an added bonus, it's in 4-D -- which means it uses "Aromascope" so you can smell what's going on in the movie.

What They're Saying:
This movie has yet to be reviewed.

Good for Kids?
The fourth installment in the Spy Kids franchise is perfect for kids looking for adventure with their favorite family of spies. Common Sense Media says: "Kids who were fans of the first films may have aged out of the target audience by now, but even tweens and kids who aren't familiar with the earlier movies will want to check out a flick that stars kids as action heroes." Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Conan the Barbarian
Short Story:
Jason Momoa of Game of Thrones fame steps into the role of the sword-weilding barbarian that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a star, though filmmakers promise a new take on the saga. When his father is murdered and his village destroyed, Conan sets out on a quest for vengeance -- and ends up defending the great nations of Hyboria from witches and monsters who mean to conquer them.

What They're Saying:
"Here's a movie that's simultaneously lavishly violent and numbing, visually ornate and undistinguished, epic and shallow, relentlessly noisy and tone-deaf, workmanlike and unfilling." -- Entertainment Weekly

"Both truer to the vision of its character's creator, Robert E. Howard, and more satisfyingly pulpy than the 1982 movie incarnation." -- Village Voice

Good For Kids?
Common Sense Media reminds parents that this is a take on the Conan story inspired by the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Rated R for strong, bloody violence and some nudity, this one isn't kid-friendly in the slightest. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Fright Night
Short Story:
Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) has it all: He's popular and dating one of the hottest girls in school, but trouble arrives when a mysterious man named Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. Everyone seems to think Jerry is a great guy, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette) -- but, as the trailer reveals, Jerry is actually a bloodthirsty vampire who's been killing kids in the area.

What They're Saying:
"This decent remake of the '80s vampire favorite should satiate horror fans." -- Hollywood Reporter

"At least this new version stays true to its origins by having a bit of cheeky fun, and the way it contemporizes the story is really rather clever." -- Associated Press

Good for Kids?
Rated R for bloody horror violence, it's best to hire a babysitter if you plan to see this reimagining of the 1985 cult favorite. Perfect for scary-movie fans, the film has recieved stellar reviews from the critics and should not be missed!

'Our Idiot Brother': The Reviews Are In!

Paul Rudd, in the title role, walks away with much of the critics' praise in this ensemble comedy.
By Terri Schwartz

Even with strong performances from the ensemble cast in "Our Idiot Brother," the Sundance darling is being heralded as Paul Rudd's movie. Reviews for the comedy, which opened on Friday (August 25), are heralding Rudd's turn as one of the best of his career. And although the response has been generally positive, critics did take issue with some of the other idiotic parts of the movie.

Some found the script's approach to the characters too formulaic: Rudd's character might be an idiot, but he is actually a commendable guy when compared to his three jaded sisters, his hippie ex-girlfriend and his wine-drinking mother. Others thought the movie was a bit unconvincing despite its well-meaning message. Still, the jump from "My Idiot Brother" at Sundance to "Our Idiot Brother" in wide-release seems to imply a more inclusive element to the film that resounded with critics.

So will "Our Idiot Brother" charm you? Here's what the critics had to say:

The Idiot Brother
"Though the ensemble cast is uniformly strong, this is Rudd's film. His inherent likability and genial manner are ideal for the character. He plays laid-back especially well. (His aging surfer dude in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' was a variation on Ned.) Watching Rudd bring dimension to what could have been a clownish caricature is the best reason to see this good-natured family comedy. 'Our Idiot Brother' is as irresistible and easy to love as a golden retriever." — Claudia Puig, USA Today

The Characters
"Peeking out from a curtain of shaggy hair and a beard, Rudd invests Ned with every ounce of the effusive, natural warmth that has become his trademark. And like so many movies in his career, he makes Our Idiot Brother much more tolerable than it deserves to be. Screenwriters Evgenia Peretz and David Schisgall play up Ned's innocence by making his sisters thoroughly unappealing: Emily Mortimer plays a dowdy, sad-sack hausfrau married to a pompous documentarian (played with withering contempt by Steve Coogan); Elizabeth Banks flails in a misguided brunet pageboy as a ruthless Vanity Fair reporter; and Zooey Deschanel lends spaced-out self-absorption to a lesbian tempted by a similarly navel-gazing male artist." — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post

The Script
"You want to laugh at this, except the movie is forcing you to do so. Adultery and dysfunction are cute problems. Deschanel's character shares a loft with her girlfriend (Rashida Jones, underutilized again and still the best thing here) and a gang of bohemians who don't get up to anything interesting. Though Deschanel's compulsion to play another Quirky Performance Artist is satisfied. Banks (shrill careerist) and Mortimer (neurotic wimp) conform to type, too. Ned makes their relationships harder than they already appear to be. He's a gimmick, and yet without him the movie is just Hanna-Barbera and Her Sisters. Either way, it's all emotionally counterfeit, and that bogusness infects the comedy." — Wesley Morris, The Boston Globe

The Direction
"Efficiently directed by Jesse Peretz, (Ms. Peretz's brother, evidently quite capable), Our Idiot Brother is a thin, unconvincing movie made likable by the charm and skill of its cast and by a script (by Ms. Peretz and her husband, David Schisgall) peppered with wit and insight. ... A handful of scenes — a visit to a cultish self-help seminar, a family game of charades with Mom (Shirley Knight), a profile interview gone off the rails — are sharp, funny and surprising. But the filmmakers mostly look for humor in obvious, picked-over places. Can we please have a moratorium on private-school interviews? Like yoga classes (which this movie blessedly leaves alone), they are hard in real life and suspiciously easy in movies." — A.O. Scott, The New York Times

The Final Word
" My Idiot Brother might have made Ned more of a symbol and less of a person. Where the filmmakers, and Mr. Rudd, go right is making him such a round and sympathetic figure, rather than the desperate, pathetic and/or slapstick character he might have been in different hands. Our Idiot Brother — not My or Your or Their idiot brother — is goofily funny, and silly, and in many ways follows the currents of contemporary comedy into the gulf stream of inanity. And yet Ned turns out to be a strangely moving figure, a comic foil worthy of affection, perhaps even respect." — John Anderson, The Wall Street Journal
