The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 4 Premiere Recap: High Tides, Low Blows

The Real Housewives of New Jersey are back and the feuding continues, but this time they're leaving their McMansions and taking it down to the Jersey shore.

Let's assess all the cussing, name calling, and backstabbing in THG +/- review!

It looks like no one has talked much since Teresa Guidice's infamous cookbook came out. Between the digs about her being as Italian as the Olive Garden and rehashing her son's brilliant idea for a strip car wash, Caroline Manzo is still pretty ticked off.

The Real Housewives of NJ

The two women end up meeting at a party at Jacqueline's and Caroline's doing an admirable job of freezing Teresa out but Teresa wants to talk. She says she wants to clear the air. Minus 10 because why wait for a family party to do that?

Why not just pick up the phone or go on over to Caroline's? I suppose the show wouldn't be fun if any of it made sense.

So Teresa apologizes…sort of.

"I think you misread it because if you really read it good you'd realize I didn't insult you." Really?  hat's your idea of an apology? Telling someone you didn't read it good? Minus 15 and I'm not even counting the grammar issues.

Teresa just keeps repeating that it was all a joke but Teresa's the only one who finds it funny.

And apparently this is not a good time to be messing with Caroline. She's going though menopause and isn't thrilled when her doctor tells her she's getting old. Plus 8 because even she admits she may go super bitch on someone who crosses her right now.

But it's the start of a long season and Caroline agrees to co-exist and move forward. Let's see how long that lasts.

Melissa Gorga seems to be serious about getting along with her crazy sister-in-law. She doesn't even want to hear about the cookbook anymore so Plus 7 for making the effort. But Kathy's husband Rich can't help but cause trouble and brings it up every chance he gets.

Of course even Melissa's resolve is tested when her hubby tells her that Teresa says Melissa would leave Joe in a heartbeat if a richer guy came along. When Joe asked her why she said it, Teresa's response is she heard it somewhere. Minus 11. The more Teresa talks the more I think she's nothing but stupid and mean.

The whole crew, minus the Manzo's travel down to the Jersey shore for the weekend and we get quite the inside view of the Guidice home as they prepare for their trip.

Teresa's yelling for Gia to help find her sister's iTouch and the little one is calling Gia a stupid whore. But Teresa did make her say she was sorry. Seriously?!?

The kid's about six years old and she's calling her sister a stupid whore! What's she going to be saying when she's 13? Minus 22. Sorry indeed.

On the car trip down, Joe tells Teresa that he didn't come home because he was hanging out with some girls the night before…but it was a business thing.

Yeah, even 11-year-old Gia isn't buying it. And that's the bigger problem. Gia's not a baby and she's not an idiot. I can only imagine what the kids at school say to her. They read the magazines and watch TV and there's so much stuff out there now.

So how does Teresa choose to handle it? By sticking her head in the sand the way she does everything else. Teresa and Joe decide the kids are too young to understand so why bother talking to them about it. Minus 15.

Umm, when your 11-year-old has to ask why the magazine cover says Daddy's cheating you've got big problems.

Joe's response to all this. He tells Gia to shut up and tells Teresa she knew this was the life when she signed on. Joe's a jackass who's never going to change. Minus 13.

And that gives me a new word to describe Teresa. To mean and stupid you can add sad. Very, very sad.

Next to the Guidices, the Gorgas appear almost normal and isn't that scary. Joe is teaching Gino how to use the potty like a big boy. As much as Joe Gorga makes my skin crawl on occasion, he seems like a good dad who adores his kids and his wife so Plus 12 for that.

But what was he thinking about that shore house? It's going to be perfectly nice once it's done but those kids can't stay there now with the construction equipment and the green pool. Minus 9.

Joe tries to tell Teresa that he'll be there for her if her husband goes to prison but somehow it ends up in a mess of misunderstandings. Minus 5. What else is new.

Back at Jacqueline's she's see a life coach to try and deal with the mess Ashley is making of her life and the ripple effect it's having on everyone else. Ash is now platinum blonde and getting tattoos and piercings.

The girl looks like a spoiled 15-year-old acting out not a 20-something starting her life and it's taking it's toll on Jacqueline and Chris' marriage.

So what's the solution? Chris has agreed to send Jacqueline away to relatives in Las Vegas? Plus 10. At least he didn't buy her another car. He's finally doing something but is this just pushing the problem off on somebody else? Maybe the change of scenery will help but will we really not see Ashley this season?

Somehow I'm sure the rest of the cast will give us so much drama that we won't even miss her.

Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch Are 'Savages' In Oliver Stone's Latest

'She is beautiful and she is sexy. She is hot,' legendary filmmaker says of Lively's performance in his summer flick, out July 6.

When Oliver Stone releases a film, you'd better sit up and take notice. Whether he's tackling the Vietnam War (as he did in a trilogy of films: "Platoon," "Born on the Fourth of July" and "Heaven & Earth"), presidential scandals (another trilogy: "JFK," "Nixon" and "W.") or pulpy genre violence ("Natural Born Killers," "U-Turn"), you can be sure he'll give an audience member something to chew on. So when Stone signs on to direct some of the hottest young actors in Hollywood (Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson) in a tale of sex, drugs and violence, yeah, we're interested.

MTV News caught up with Stone to talk about his first legitimate summer release, "Savages" (set for a July 6 release), his distaste for most summer popcorn films and his upcoming gargantuan take on nothing less than the history of the United States.

MTV: The release date of "Savages" was shifted quite a bit. It's now being released in the middle of a very competitive summer. Were you happy with that decision?

Oliver Stone: I've never done a summer movie, believe it or not. Except for "Natural Born Killers," but that was August, late summer. This is my first time out there in the big leagues. So I'm excited in a way.

MTV: Do you think "Savages" will play well for that younger summer audience?

Stone: I think it plays well. I don't know that it would play completely to the "Hunger Games" crowd because we have a different kind of sexuality and the take on violence is real for us. It's fun and exciting. It's a wild ride. You don't know what's going to happen. I think the unpredictability is what makes it work.

MTV: Can you give me a sense of the relationship at the heart of the story between the characters played by Blake, Taylor and Aaron.

Stone: They are all friends and they believe in free love, and they happen to be growing some grass. One of them [Johnson] is doing good around the world. The other one [Kitsch] is an Afghanistan and Iraq veteran who's his best buddy from school; they have a partnership. The girl [Lively] is from Laguna. They met on the beach, basically.

MTV: It sounds like just about every hot young actor was in the running for these roles.

Stone: I met with every pot dealer I could. [Laughs] For the girl, I had to meet a few of the younger newcomers because I did not know who they were. I saw [Blake's] work and I was very impressed with "[The Private Live of] Pippa Lee." And she was very strong in "The Town." I think people that know her from "Gossip Girl" will be surprised. She is beautiful and she is sexy. She is hot. That's what a lot of fans would say about her.

MTV: Has "Savages" received a rating yet?

Stone: We got a hard R. It's an intense movie but it's a different style than "Natural Born Killers." It has a lush look. It has some of that sun-drenched romanticism that I like. It's not just action, it is also romantic.

MTV: "Savages" will be surrounded by some big summer blockbusters. You've managed to avoid tentpole movies, though you did almost direct a "Mission: Impossible" at one point.

Stone: Well, we tried to make a "Mission" at that time, which was ahead of its time in terms of the story. I looked at it as a vehicle that was supersmart. [But] they could never pick a script. With "Mission: Impossible," you have to hit these beats all the time.

MTV: It sounds like it's not a regret for you.

Stone: It's all steroids now. I mean "Iron Man 2" is unwatchable, as is "Transformers 2." It's not my kind of moviemaking. "Savages" is a different kind of movie. It's realistic and at the same time it has a bit of that summer pop feel.

MTV: What's the status of your TV series, "The Untold History of the United States"?

Stone: That one's a bitch. It's a bitch in my butt.

MTV: It will begin airing on Showtime in November?

Stone: Yeah, we will make that for sure, but there are so many factors and fact checking. It's a lot of work. It's 21 hours and each hour has to work like a movie. I'm dealing with an important issue to me. That's a legacy for me. Something that matters. It may not matter to most people, but it does matter to me. This is a perception of our time that is completely different from what we're hearing in magazines and in our newspapers. We deal with all types of things, such as the nature of the atomic bomb, why was it used, why it should not have been used. It's all kinds of stuff. Reagan's legacy, our national security state, we go after all of it.

MTV: Do you narrate it?

Stone: Yes, I narrate it as well.

Check out Oliver Stone's "Savages" in theaters July 6, and "The Untold History of the United States" on Showtime in November.

It's Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated summer movies. Get ready to gorge on inside looks at "The Avengers," Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami," Kristen Stewart's "Snow White," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and more!

Ben Affleck Takes On Dad Duty With Prima Ballerina Violet

Ben Affleck chatted with his oldest daughter Violet after picking her up from ballet class in Santa Monica on Saturday. Ben and Jennifer Garner have been sticking close to home since welcoming their son Samuel at the end of February, though next week she is expected to make a quick trip to Vegas for CinemaCon. Ben's been hard at work on his next directorial project, Argo. Ben didn't travel back to Boston to attend Fenway Park's 100th anniversary celebration, but he did share his excitement about the Red Sox opening day on his Facebook page. Even though they're raising Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel in California, perhaps Ben will still get his little ones to join him and Jen in the ranks of celebrity Red Sox fans.
