Britney Spears to Join The X Factor For $15 Million, Sources Confirm

It's actually happening. Britney Spears is going to become a judge on The X Factor, with a deal pending to pay her $15 million for the role, E! News reports.

"Both camps were going back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee," says one insider with knowledge of the contract.

"That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it's been sorted."

"All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality."

Britney Smiles

Coming along for the ride with Britney is fiance Jason Trawick. A second source reveals that her soon-to-be husband will become a producer on the show.

The source says of Trawick, who will soon gain control of her affairs:

"Jason is expected to be there every day Britney is on set. He is her rock and will help guide her through the process. He is the person she trusts the most."

When final, the deal will make Britney Spears the highest paid judge on reality TV, eclipsing Jennifer Lopez's $12 million for American Idol Season 11.

Previous reports indicated that Spears wanted $20 million for the gig, but the show balked at anything over $10 million. Looks like they met halfway.

Barring any last-minute setbacks, Spears will fill one of two X Factor judging vacancies after Simon Cowell fired Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

No word on who will join Britney, Simon and L.A. Reid on the panel.

Reps for The X Factor and Fox would neither confirm nor deny this, however, a production insider tells E! News that "this is an exciting time for [Britney]."

"It'll be a fun project and she is welcoming the chance to mentor up-and-coming artists. She loves the idea of helping nurture emerging talent. She's really looking forward to the project and being able to connect with fans."

The X Factor returns in September.

What do you think of the decision to bring Britney on board? Will she be a good judge? Tell us in the comments (and poll) below!

When it comes to hip-hop hustle, Ace Hood is the hardest out. Today (April 11), the Florida MC is going to bring his hustle to "RapFix Live."

As a rising star in DJ Khaled's We the Best camp, Ace Hood dropped his debut Gutta album in 2008 and followed up a year later with Ruthless. In 2011 Ace made his biggest impact when he released his third LP, Blood, Sweat & Tears. The album's lead single, "Hustle Hard," became an inescapable street anthem and even spawned a remix with Rick Ross and Lil Wayne.

The fiery MC didn't rest on his laurels, either: Over the course of the past year, Ace released four mixtapes. His latest tape, Starvation, came after the tragic death of his daughter. Hood chose to pour out all his emotions throughout the mixtape.

Top Dawg Entertainment's Schoolboy Q will also appear on "RapFix Live." The L.A. rhyme slinger has emerged from the same camp that launched Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock. In 2011, he dropped his debut, Setbacks, and in January, Schoolboy released his second independent album, Habits & Contradictions. Then in March it was announced he signed to Interscope through TDE. Over the past several months, Schoolboy has risen as one of rap's most promising young talents.

Fans should also tune in to "RapFix" to see an exclusive MTV News interview with Nicki Minaj's Roman Reloaded executive producer, Safaree "SB" Samuels, and catch a sneak peek of MTV's new late-night weekly talk show "Hip Hop POV," premiering tonight at midnight ET.

Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music team are steadily building anticipation for their upcoming group album, but the latest news from Kanye's all-star camp is that has joined their ranks.

On Wednesday (April 11), Universal Republic chairman and CEO Barry Weiss announced that the veteran rapper and producer is the latest addition to the G.O.O.D Music family, which operates under Def Jam Recordings.

Q-Tip, who built his legacy as a member of the iconic group A Tribe Called Quest, released his last solo album, the previously shelved Kamaal/ The Abstract, in 2009. The Renaissance came out in 2008. They were released via Motown and Battery Records. Now he's set to drop his fourth solo LP, tentatively titled The Last Zulu, under the G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam umbrella.

"I'm excited to be a part of the great iconic Def Jam label," Q-Tip said in a statement. "I'm humbled to be a part of such a storied history. To reconnect with Barry Weiss is a great thing. As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I'm excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. I will do my best to present the most cutting-edge music I can."

Q-Tip and Kanye have worked closely together in the past, most recently teaming up for production on West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Watch the Throne, his joint album with Jay-Z.

Weiss, who worked with Q-Tip during his tenure with A Tribe Called Quest on Jive Records in the 1990s, says that he's "thrilled to be working with Q-Tip once again."

With Q-Tip now on board, it's likely that the Queens native will leave his mark on the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album, which is set to the debut this spring. The album's first single, Mercy dropped last week with features from Big Sean, Pusha T and fellow Def Jam signee 2 Chainz. Q-Tip will join a label whose roster includes John Legend, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Pusha T, Cyhi Da Prynce, Mr. Hudson and Mos Def.

Gary Ross is Out for ?Catching Fire?

He did a killer job directing ?The Hunger Games,? but Gary Ross will not be returning to helm the sequel ?Catching Fire.?

The well-respected director announced the decision last night, noting that he ?doesn?t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule.?

Not wanting to end things on a down note, Gary also declared that doing ?The Hunger Games? ?was the happiest experience of my professional life.?

Ross? statement reads:

?Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct Catching Fire. As a writer and a director, I simply don?t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule.

I loved making The Hunger Games ? it was the happiest experience of my professional life. Lionsgate was supportive of me in a manner that few directors ever experience in a franchise: they empowered me to make the film I wanted to make and backed the movie in a way that requires no explanation beyond the remarkable results. And contrary to what has been reported, negotiations with Lionsgate have not been problematic. They have also been very understanding of me through this difficult decision.

I also cannot say enough about the people I worked with: Producer Nina Jacobson, a great collaborator and a true friend; the brilliant Suzanne Collins, who entrusted us with her most amazing and important story; the gifted and remarkable Jennifer Lawrence whose performance exceeded my wildest expectations, and the rest of the incredible cast, whom I am proud to call my friends.

To the fans I want to say thank you for your support your faith, your enthusiasm and your trust. Hard as this may be to understand I am trying to keep that trust with you. Thank you all. It?s been a wonderful experience.?

In response, Lionsgate also released a statement:

?We?re very sorry that Gary Ross has chosen not to direct Catching Fire. We were really looking forward to making the movie with him. He did an incredible job on the first film and we are grateful for his work. This will not be the end of our relationship, as we consider Ross to be part of the Lionsgate family and look forward to working with him in the future.?
